Kuehne+Nagel offers freight forwarding services and carries out warehousing activities for customers. Packaging used in inbound and outbound operations, whether made of wood, cardboard or plastic, can be a potential source of waste. Therefore, waste management is a key component of Kuehne+Nagel's environmental program.
Waste management has two main components: the treatment and disposal of hazardous waste and the establishment of regulations and guidelines for monitoring the waste management process. At Kuehne+Nagel, we are committed to proactively implementing both processes and execution when it comes to waste disposal. Waste management is one of the most important elements of Kuehne+Nagel's Environmental Program.
Our employees apply accepted waste management standards at all locations worldwide. These standards meet high corporate expectations and provide the framework required to manage all types of solid waste - from generation to reuse, recycling, treatment or careful disposal.
Our standards set a benchmark for several basic elements of our waste management program and encourage waste minimization and recycling whenever possible.
We continue to work toward our 2030 goal of zero waste sent to landfills.
In 2022, 94% of waste was recycled at Kuehne+Nagel sites in Poland. Across the Group, 75% of all waste was recycled (58%) or recovered (17%), while waste reduction totaled 19%. Compared to 2021, the total amount of waste diverted from landfills fell by another 10%.
Still, the majority of waste at Kuehne+Nagel locations is outside our direct influence, as it is mainly process waste.
Recycling, reuse, treatment and disposal of waste
All recycling, reuse, treatment and disposal practices must comply with applicable regulations and Kuehne+Nagel's environmental policy.
